Finally on the mend

We'll it's been a long weekend with Carson. He ended up having another asthma attack last night and again tonight. He sounds pretty good now but I will keep him in my bed just to be sure.

Saturday I stayed home and continued to battle Carson with his high fever and no sleep. Coltan and Cody helped me out during the day and then Charlie finally came down around 7:30 to help out. I got take out for dinner and we ended up watching Rambo on pay per view. I fought Carson to go to sleep and I think he stayed up until about 11:30 and Charlie left before that. Then Carson woke up around 1:45 and we rocked until almost 3:00. I finally got him to sleep and next thing I knew, it was Sunday morning and the doorbell was ringing. Chris came at 9:30 to pick up Coltan and Cody for his weekend. I laid back down but Carson was up soon after. His temperature was finally low (never over 100) but now I couldn't get him to eat or drink. He is barely having 3 slightly wet diapers. The doctor said if he didn't have at least 3 in a 24 hour period, he needed to come in for an IV. I guess I was lucky for the third diaper in the 22nd hour. We ended up having an uneventful night until about 6:30 when he started wheezing. I gave him 2 puffs of abutural while I was hooking up the nebulizer. I gave him a breathing treatment and then decided he sounded a lot more clear. I think that tuckered him out because he actually went to sleep by 10:00.

Of course, he did get up a couple of times but nothing to bad. Just enough for me to lay back down and try to fall asleep again. Today is the first day he started eating and drinking more. I think before 10:30 he had already drank 24 oz of milk. He didn't eat to well. Just a couple of grapes that I cut up but hey I'll take it. Then I made us a pizza for lunch and he had about 4 bites and was pretty much done. He did snack on some goldfish crackers but not very many. Then for dinner, 1 whole chicken nugget. So, now I need to get him to eat.

So now for my venting. I don't usually do this but right now I'm just so frustrated. I really have hard days being a single mother. I have taken care of Carson day and night by myself with little or no help. It's not up to Coltan and Cody to help out. It is Carson's dad. I just can't make him understand that I need help. He worked his real job through Thursday and I didn't bother him. I just accepted that it needed to be me taking care of him. But then when I asked him for help Thursday night, he said he would come down after a meeting. His meeting was over at 7:00 and I called from 7:30-9:30 and finally gave up. All while Carson had a 105.1 temp and an asthma attack. I finally text him and I'm sure it wasn't very nice. He called me back and didn't know that I still needed him so he went home and mowed the lawn. Hello, your son is sick...... So then I texted him Friday morning and asked for a little help so I could actually get one day of work in and he said no he was doing a side job and he has to work those so he can give me money. What about my bills? I'm expected to take care of Carson all the time and not go to work so I can get paid? Saturday he finally comes down at 7:30 and we had an agreement that he would come down Sunday after his side job. I called him Sunday morning and told him that I hadn't had much sleep and would he just plan on spending the night and helping me out. He said he would just take Carson to his house and he could spend the night there. I said just forget it and hung up. I'm just not comfortable with Carson being out of my sight when he is this sick. So Sunday night around 6:30, Carson is having yet another asthma attack and now I'm trying Charlie for 1 hour and 20 minutes. I finally sent him a text. He calls back a half hour later and said he didn't think I still wanted him to come down and he was almost home. I couldn't believe his insensitivity. So this morning at 9:30, he calls and now that Carson is feeling better, he wants to spend the day with him. I told him no. I'm real tired of Charlie spending very few hours with him on average once a week and only when it's convenient for him. Am I wrong to feel like this? I didn't even ask for money from him until Carson was 2 months shy of turning 2. I gave him toys, a dvd player, a bed rail, movie camera and whatever else for his house so Carson could go over there and play with the things he likes. Charlie's 13 year old daughter took over the second and third room in his house until about 2 months ago and Carson still doesn't really have a bedroom that is his. She still has things of hers in there and he has a computer in there. He refuses to buy a crib for him and the last time he spent the night, Carson woke up about 4 in the morning and was scared and was walking around the house trying to find Charlie's room. He has spent the night a total of two times with Charlie and of course he says that is my fault as well. So, I bought one of those bed rails at Wal Mart for the twin bed that Charlie chooses to have Carson sleep on and he won't even put that out. Charlie has no idea what medicine's Carson takes and states I just need to write it down. He has spent other days over there and Charlie for one reason or another didn't give Carson his breathing treatments or forgot other medicines. So I'm forced to call him every few hours to make sure Carson is staying on his routine. I'm just tired of feeling like I'm supposed to take care of Carson 100%. Out of all of Carson's dr appts., I would say Charlie has been to about 5 of them. I can even tell you which ones. I want to be acknowledged for the hard work that I do. I want him to show me a little respect and appreciate my effort in raising Carson. I have told him numerous times that Carson needs a dad not someone to come by once a week and entertain him. Charlie needs to experience parenthood with all of the ups and downs. That means he needs to see Carson when he is sick. When he is scared, or when he has another asthma attack. I was actually trying to think of how many times Charlie has been present for the breathing machine. Not very many. Anyways, thanks for letting me vent. Don't get me wrong, I love Carson with all of my heart, it's just that I'm weak and asking for help and Charlie thinks because I'm bitching about his lack of parenting that he is going to "punish me" and not help at all. I just need to feel like he knows I'm doing a good job with Carson and he is thankful that I do so he can live his single life as he pleases.

Double ear infection

We'll here we go again. I cannot seem to get Carson on the right track! Wednesday morning when Carson woke up he felt a little warm to me. I gave him some Motrin and didn't think about it again. Well Wednesday night around 7:00, he spiked a temp of 102.1. So I knew something was brewing. Needless to say, no sleep. I called the Doctor and made an appointment yesterday. He has a double ear infection. ARGGGGGG. So last night around 7:30 he decided to have an asthma attack. Now he has had temperatures running all the way as high as 105.1. It is currently 103.8 and he is asleep. I just feel so bad for him. We were up for 4 hours last night trying to get his fever down and when I was in the bathroom with him putting wash clothes on him, he was sitting up and trying to sleep. He is absolutely miserable. I finally laid him in my bed around 2:30. He woke up again around 4:00 holding his ear and crying "mommy hurt". I think I was crying with him. I took him into the living room and rocked him back to sleep. His temp was still holding 102.6. We were up again at 7:00 with 104.2 temp. I took all of his clothes off and wiped him down with a washcloth. He was not very happy and kept crying for his blank (blanket). So I got it down to about 103.4 and let him go to sleep. He hasn't had a wet diaper since yesterday around 7:30(last night) and he will not take anything by mouth. I think it hurts to bad to swallow. So when I'm trying to give him Motrin and Tylenol, he spits most of it back at me. It is a battle. He can't have Popsicles so I'm out of ideas to get fluids in him. Any ideas, let me know.......

Coltan and Cody were great last night. I think they stayed up until 1:00 or so helping me take his temperature. They were as concerned with Carson as I was. Thanks to my big boys, they kept getting me more cold wash clothes, blankets, pillows, juice, and Coltan gave him lots of cuddles and kisses. I cannot believe how when I'm in a crisis, Coltan steps up and acts like he is the man of the house. Cody hates to see Carson sick and he gets just as upset as Carson. I know that Carson has the two best big brothers in the world. Mom is really proud of you two!!!

Starting the swallow test

Carson wasn't sure what to think about all of the attention. There was 6 people including myself and Charlie in the room. The speech pathologist decided it would be better if either daddy or I fed him so I told Charlie to go for it. That way I could take pics.

Daddy entertaining Carson

While they were putting the barium on all the foods and waiting for the doctor, Carson was getting a little antsy waiting for us to began. Charlie was trying to entertain him by teaching him to drive.

Daddy will try to see what all the hype is about

After mixing the milk with the Simply Thick, Charlie said it taste the same but it's weird to swallow the new texture.

Carson's new liquids

This is the face of a little boy drinking milk with a new texture. He's not so sure what to think!!!

Swallow Test Update

Well I'd have to say that this was by far one of the neatest test Carson has done. We went to radiology where we were to meet the speech pathologist and the OT. We were told to be there at 12:30 and the test would start at 1:00PM sharp. So at 1:35 they finally called our name. Apparently we were waiting on the doctor. So they put Carson in a chair and put barium on everything. This is how they saw it on the X-rays. We started out with liquids that were room temp and then liquids that were cold. She wanted to see him swallow foods and liquids with different textures. Then we moved on to applesauce. After that was goldfish crackers. The last one we tried were grapes but Carson was way to smart and decided he didn't want to play the game anymore. Charlie took a bite of a cracker with the barium on it and said he didn't blame Carson for not wanting to eat any of it. I personally didn't try it but I guess it taste a little like chalk?

Anyways, the neat part was everything was done through the X-ray. So everything he ate and chewed you could see on the monitor and watch him swallow the liquids and foods and where it went. For the most part, he swallowed the way he should which was everything going down the esophagus. But in the 10 minutes of this, he swallowed wrong 10+ times. The speech pathologist was a little concerned with this. She basically said that when Carson eats, he has a delayed reaction and his epiglottis doesn't shut down quick enough, therefore causing some of the liquid to go down in his airway. She calls him a silent aspirator. She is concerned because she said he has likely gotten so used to this that he doesn't even try to cough it back up, which would lead the liquid/food to go straight down to the lungs. She thinks this is a contributor to Carson having so many colds, respiratory related illnesses, and asthma flare ups.

So the GREAT news is, this may be the answer to all of our problems. Until his body learns to react quicker, we have to put a thickener in all of his liquids. It is called Simply Thick. Has anyone ever had to use it? It is a tasteless gel that is the consistency of honey and we add it to all of his liquids. Charlie and I tasted it and it's just a weird texture to swallow. If he has soup, we will drain the broth and either have him eat the noodles or put the simply thick in his broth to thicken it and mix the soup back together. It is going to take some time to adjust to this new routine.

The OT told me that until further notice, Carson cannot eat foods that are real juicy (oranges, pickles, cherry tomatoes, watermelon). Also, no ice cream, jello, Popsicles. Another big problem I will encounter, he cannot drink after me. He always has to drink out of my drink because it's the big boy thing to do.

Now for the kicker, insurance won't pay for it because it isn't a prescription and the cheapest I have found is a 21 day supply for 65.00. This includes the shipping and sales tax. If anyone uses this and knows where to find it cheaper, please let me know. Right now I have found it is cheaper through the website than the home health supply companies. Regular pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens do not carry it. Anyways, the good news, maybe this is why we are always sick. Pulmonary will make the final decision if this the the ultimate problem or not but after tests and lots of doctor appointments over the last 4 months, this gives me a little peace of mind.

Busy weekend

We'll Friday after I finally got Carson to sleep, (around 1:00AM) I got some sleep as well. Carson did however wake up Saturday at 7:30AM. So I got ready and went to work. I took Carson over to Kelley's for the day and my mom picked up Coltan and Cody so they could go to their soccer tryouts. Kelley called me in the afternoon and said she was taking Carson swimming. He didn't want to stop so we decided to just really wear him out and he could skip his nap Bad idea. I got home and Coltan and Cody were already back at the house. They watched Carson so I could make lasagna for dinner. After it was in the oven, I rocked Carson to sleep around 7:00PM. I'm thinking to myself, yes, the medicine and no nap today is kicking in. So after dinner, Chris came to pick up the boys for the weekend and I'm going to go to bed early. This was not Carson's plans. He woke up just before 11:00 and we stayed up until 2:30AM. Then he was up for good at 5:30AM. Lovely!!!

So Sunday morning I get a nice visit from my neighbor. Apparently my boys are kicking the soccer ball so hard in the backyard that when they hit the fence, they are splitting the fence posts in half. Four total. Charlie then called to see about coming down today which is inviting since I haven't had any sleep and now I'm going to be buying the fence posts. He showed up around noon and Carson was still a ball of energy. We ate some lunch and then off to Lowe's to buy these posts. I was surprised that they were only $1.50 each. I told him to grab 8-10 because something told me this wouldn't be the last time the boys broke the fence while playing soccer. My neighbor Tara agreed.

After that, I laid out some steaks and Charlie grilled them and Carson finally laid down. We actually ate are meal in peace which doesn't happen very ofter. Carson was back up around 8:00PM so he only slept for about 45 minutes. Charlie left around 9:00 and then I worked for 2 1/2 hours to get Carson asleep. He finally managed to fall asleep in my bed around 11:30.

This morning was paybacks to Carson. I had to be at my personal trainer at 9:00AM and I was leaving around 8:40. Carson was still asleep and I had to wake him up. He certainly didn't like that at all. We came back and just hung out the rest of the day.

Tomorrow we will be back at Children's for Carson's swallow test. Our appointment is at 12:30. This test has been ordered by Pulmonary. She stated at our last appointment that if this comes back negative as well as the acid reflux, she was opting for exploratory surgery. She said they may scope his lungs to see why we can't get him to eat, why he gags all the time, and why so many asthma flare ups. Keep your fingers crossed that we can start finding out some answers.

How did this happen????

Not quite sure what happened here. I rocked him to sleep Saturday night around 7:00PM and laid him down. When I checked on him around 9:00, he somehow lost his britches.

In dreamland.....

This is how Carson sleeps at night. It bugs me because he has to have a blanket wrapped around his head. I just love watching him sleep though. He is just so precious.

Back to the Emergency Room

Today I went to work and did payroll. The program I'm working with didn't want to calculate the taxes so I pretty much did payroll by hand. That is always fun.

Coltan had an emergency orthodontist appointment because somehow he was laying one way and Cody was laying the other way and Cody's sock got stuck in Colt's braces. By the time their dad stopped laughing at this and got Cody's sock off of his foot, he then tried to get the sock off of Coltan's braces, When he did, he pulled 4 of the brackets loose. So Aspen took him so I didn't have to leave work. The ortho did get his braces fixed. Now I think I've heard it all.

Then about 5:00, Kelley, (Carson's babysitter) called and said he woke up from nap and his eyes were really red and watery. I told her to give him a 1/2 teaspoon of Benadryl and as soon as I finished payroll, I'd be on my way to get him. So when I got there, his right eye was red and left eye was puffy like someone punched him. I took him to my house and I was going to try to flush it out. By the time we got home it looked like it had doubled in size and now his cheek was swelling up as well. So I calmly called the doctor and told them that he probably needed to be seen. the doctor agreed and I took him to Children's South. By this time the top of his lip was swollen as well. Good news, Carson didn't have to wait in the waiting room. We didn't even have to sit and wait for a nurse to triage. So the doctor came in and gave Carson some more benadryl and within 20 minutes, Carson is bouncing off the walls. I'm not the lucky parent that when you give Benadryl to your child, he or she gets knocked out. No mine is just the opposite. (hint, it is 11:30PM right now while I'm typing this and Carson is still up running around. I stopped trying to put him to bed an hour ago) She then put some eyedrops in his eyes called Patenol to help with the itching. This medicine is another antihistamine. So his lip and cheek started coming down and his eye wasn't swollen shut anymore. She gave me a RX for the Patenol and told me that she just couldn't determine what flared this episode. What I have learned with allergies is you usually never pen point what does trigger them. So we are home now and I gave him some more of the drops and it basically took 4 people to hold him down. We had one on his arms, one on his legs, one held his head and I administered the drops. This ought to be a lot of fun because she wants me to give it to him twice a day for 5 days. Wish me luck. I was going to take a picture but now that we are home, his eyes/face looks a thousand times better so I didn't.

Anyways, we have more soccer this weekend and that is pretty much it. Hope everyone has a great weekend and pray that today isn't a sign of how the rest of my weekend is going to be.

What an interesting day....

So, what I thought was going to be an easy, relaxing day was anything but. I woke up with a terrible sore throat again and called the doctor to get an appointment. In the meantime, I have to go to Wal-Mart because we are down to the last three diapers in the house. I honestly cannot ever remember doing that but things happen. So as we are pulling into the parking lot at Wal-Mart, my mother calls and says that my 11 year old nephew has been in a bike accident and he was at the hospital. My brother in law was working and mom knew I could get there quicker. So Carson and I ran up to the hospital and they had him in the waiting area holding an ice pack in between his legs. Yes, he was doing his free-styling tricks on the bike and somehow wiped out and tore his crotch area and sliced his privates. Good news is the doctor said it was all superficial and he only needed stitches. 7 total.....
After that ordeal, I went into Raytown to pick up Coltan and Cody and finally back to Wal Mart to get the diapers. By this time, we had 1 diaper left.
Today is also my niece's birthday and we had a little party for her tonight. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLISON!!!!

Just hangin out with mom

Our new favorite food is hot dogs and grapes for lunch so here he is sitting at the kitchen table waiting patiently for mommy to get his lunch prepared.

My little Stud Muffin

Oh the fun to take a bath and then run around chasing him to put some clothes on.........how can you be mad at him when he's just so dang cute?

Weekend in Review

Well our weekend was extremely busy. Friday Charlie came down to see Carson for a little while. I took Coltan and Cody to the last day of soccer camp so Charlie and I took Carson to the new Bass Pro Store in Independence. It was pretty cool but I'm more into hunting so it wasn't as cool as Cabelia's. After that we all went to dinner and then Charlie went home.

Saturday Coltan and Cody had try outs for the academy team and also for the Juventus team. So needless to say, Carson and I tried to entertain each other for about 5 hours between the two fields. That was a lot of fun:-). The boys came home and Coltan and I made meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner. Cody had Carson duty. After dinner Chris came and picked up Coltan and Cody so he could get an early start for Fathers day.

Sunday I re-cleaned the whole house, did some laundry and then Charlie came down to spend time with Carson. I taught him how to sign Happy Fathers Day. He already knows how to sign the three words, I just helped him put them together. I made dinner which I have to brag on myself and say was awesome!! I made maple glazed pork chops, bacon wrapped green beans, baked bread, and homemade peach cobbler. Charlie ended up leaving around 11:30 so I think Carson had some good quality time with his dad.

As far as Monday, I had to work out extra hard to burn off the extra calories from Sunday night. Then I went to all the shops to check out. Came home and didn't do much of anything. Carson was easy to get along with so we ended up having a great evening together.

On a side note Coltan did not make the academy team but mom is so proud of you. You still went out and tried out with about 40 other kids and you gave it your best!!! Keep your chin up because your still one of the two best soccer players I know!!

Congrads to Cody. He did make his age group and this will be an exciting season. He is going to Chicago, Memphis, St Louis, and Collinsville in the fall. I'm thinking I better cancel our summer vacation looking at all of our upcoming travels......

One last thing, I keep in touch with a family in Utah and they have an adorable little boy named Rhett. He had surgery yesterday and seems to be doing well. Please pray for Rhett to have a speedy recovery. Their blog is Rhettsjourney.blogspot.com They are asking for people to post a comment on their so the older brothers and sister can have a little peace knowing so many people are praying for them. So if you have a moment, please post a comment.

Any suggestions?

Not a whole lot of exciting things today. I woke up on the couch and my back, neck, and everything else hurt. With Carson's asthma, a lot of times I will put him in my bed at night so I can keep an eye on him. We usually start out in the rocking chair in the living room and when he is out, I either put him in his bed or mine. Again, depending on his asthma. If his asthma is bad, I have to give him a breathing treatment in the middle of the night and it is easier in my bed while he is sleeping. So the last 4 or 5 nights he has wanted to fall asleep on the couch. But the problem is, he won't sit still long enough to fall asleep. He gets up and runs up and down the hall and tries to play with his toys for one last minute. I will say to him "okay, lets go to your bed", and he will jump back up on the couch. This cycle goes on and on. If I put him in his bed he will stand there and cry. I don't mind him crying on his own for a few minutes but he is crying for 15-20 minutes at a time and next thing I know, it is 11:30 or even later. So, does anyone have any brilliant fix it overnight ideas????

Other than that, my day went smooth I guess. The boys went to work with me today because the storm did something to my timewarner digital telephone and I didn't want the boys home without a phone. We had to go downtown to get the business license for all 4 salons and that was good times! I hate having to go to Kansas City, City Hall. They are always so slow and rude!!!! Anyways, after I spent most of the day there, we drove to all of the salons and posted the license so we could be legal. After that Coltan and Cody had soccer camp from 5:30-8 and I dropped them off and Carson and I went to the mall. I'm noticing that Coltan has grown so tall that he is outgrowing all of his clothes. So I went to Dillards and Macy's and bought him 7 pairs of shorts and a couple of shirts. He still has a lot of shirts that fit him so that was a small plus. Then, I didn't want Cody to feel left out so I got him a couple pairs of shorts as well. After that I just walked around the mall for about 45 minutes. I'm not sure how many of you know but I finally hired a personal trainer 3 times a week. Since Carson is two I cannot use the crutch anymore that I just had a baby and that's why I'm overweight. So I see him 3 times a week and I'm supposed to do some sort of cardio 3-4 times a week. Wish me luck. I have a tough time saying no to chocolate.

We love signing time.....

Carson has all of the Signing time videos from series one and two and also the 2 videos from baby signing time. Someday I will post why I have such a huge interest in signing. Short version, it has to do with when I was an Emergency Medical Technician.
So anyways, I have been working with Carson now for about a year and he knows at least 200+ different signs. This one is him signing scared. It is so cute watching him with all of the theatrics!! His hands are in the right position. He just adds his expression for everyone's amusement. Without an explanation, this is by far my favorite word for him to sign.

My favorite

This is my 16 year old niece Aspen. She comes over quite a bit to help me out. Carson loves her to death. When he first started talking he called her Apey. So that's what he still calls her.

Um, are we in trouble???

Carson thought he would help Cody win against Coltan. I came downstairs and this is what I found. Carson looked up at me and was a little surprised. Guess he thought he was going to get in trouble for rough housing.

Just making his rounds to tell everyone bye

Carson has been at so many appointments that it has became a social event for him. He loves to go around the whole office and tell everyone bye before we leave.

Time to go

This was in the middle of the appointment when Dr. Downling was talking to me. He just decided it was time to go. The nurse caught him in the hall and gave him some stickers for a bribe to come back.

How fast can this go........?

I bet he stood there and spun that wheel for at least 15 minutes. Self entertainment!!

A new desk

We decided to rearrange the room. Instead of using the exam table for what its really for, he decide to make a little desk out of the foot stool and the underneath became his chair.

Too many Chiefs???

We'll it was another interesting day at the Asthma Clinic. Back in May when we were at the asthma clinic the doctor decided to adjust Carson's Flovent from 2 puffs once a day at 110MG to two puffs twice a day at 44MG. Of course when we went to the Pulmonary Clinic two weeks later, that doctor said no, take him back up to 110MG, but continue that twice a day.

So then we went to the GI and that doctor told me that yes Carson has acid reflex and he will start taking prevacid 15 mg, twice a day. So, today the doctor told me that he also looked over his results and said no he doesn't have acid reflux. At best, borderline. He then told me that he is concerned with all of Carson's gagging/choking episodes. That in itself could be causing the "borderline numbers" So guess what??? Now where off to the Ear,Nose, Throat specialist to see if it's his tonsils or adenoids.

So after today's exam, the doctor did say that on a scale from 1-4 with 1 being normal, the size of Carson's tonsil's are a 2 1/2-3. He did hear quite a bit of congestion in his lungs which is no surprise to me. We are also going to take him off of one of his nighttime medicines. It replaces the Zyrtec at night but it makes Carson real loopy and I have noticed that his diapers are changing. So we will go back to the Zyrtec twice a day which I think he will tolerate better. Other than that, all other medicines stay in place, (until another doctor changes that :-) )

The doctor said since we are going to stay busy, he will wait and see Carson in 3 months instead of 6 weeks. How nice. On a good note, he really does seem like a great doctor. I think that Carson is just in the middle of three different great doctors and he is being pulled in all directions of what each specialist thinks is best for him.

He still has a swallow study scheduled for June 24th and then nothing until July. July 23rd is the GI doctor again and then Aug 5th is pack to Pulmonary. And it sounds like ENT in the next couple of months. Always something........

Still sick

Not much to report around my house. Coltan and Cody went to their dad's on Saturday and will be there til I pick them up tomorrow after work. Tomorrow will be my first real day back to work since Wednesday. I have been fighting strep throat. My amoxicillan is not helping as fast as I would like. I haven't even had a voice since Saturday morning when I woke up.

So all I have done around the house is play with Carson, little bit of laundry and some dishes. I just haven't felt like doing much of anything else.

So for the bad news.......guess who has a fever now?? Yep, my little porkchop. He woke up from nap with a 100.9. So I have started him on Motrin and Tylenol every 4 hours. We already have an appointment scheduled at Children's Wednesday morning for his monthly asthma clinic so if he doesn't get worse I will try to hold off until then. (I know, that isn't what the clinic is for but have you seen what they charge for one visit? The last one was about $450.00 for the clinic and the Dr fee.).

So wish me luck. I was actually looking forward to getting out of the house tomorrow and I hope I still can. I have been sitting in my house since Wednesday and I don't want to sit a few more days waiting on Carson to get better. But if that's what it comes down to, then that is where mommy needs to be.

Oh and one last thing, I just wanted to tell Aspen thanks for all of your help. She has literally been here everyday since last Wednesday helping out. She came over a few days to watch Carson so I wouldn't be around him while I was running a fever and the last few days she has come over twice a day to bring Carson lunch and dinner and me a whole lot of milk shakes. And yes Coltan and Cody, you boys have been great big brothers as well. You kept Carson downstairs with you so mommy could rest.

Few pictures of our new slide

He just loves his new slide. He knows how to climb up it backwards, slide down it the right way, and loves playing peek a boo through all of the holes.

a few of Carson with his new slide

Carson gets to the top of the slide and wants to peek out to see who is watching him. He also knows how to play two sports at the same time. Golf and Basketball. He sure is looking all pro to me!

Coltan before.........

Coltan is on the right. The wind is blowing but I wanted you to take a good look at him before the next picture.

The new Coltan!!

I keep seeing him running around in my house and I have to stop and think who the boys invited over. Then I remember, it's Coltan , with his new haircut.

Cody didn't

Well I can still try. But when all the boys at school have long hair, it's hard to change his mind.

Carson asleep

Carson usually lets me rock him to sleep but I guess I wasn't going fast enough, I was unloading and loading dishes from the dishwasher and when I walked into the living room this is where I found him. Doesn't he look so darn adorable!!!

Now it's my turn

We'll today was pretty uneventful. Last night was another story. Lee's Summit had two tornado warnings so Carson and I spent most of our evening in Coltan's room, which is in the basement. Coltan and Cody stayed at their dad's house because Coltan had an orthodontist appointment today. Boy was that storm something! It kept me up til almost 1:00AM and next thing I knew, I was waking up to freezing and aching all over. My throat is killing me and I'm running a fever.

On a fluke, my mother had an appointment with Dr. Tarvin today so I called the nurse and asked if he could give my mom a prescription for me.

I had Aspen go to Raytown to pick up Coltan and Cody for me so I didn't have to get out. They all came back and took care of Carson for me while I tried to sleep most of the day.

So as you can see, it was actually a pretty mellow day around our house.

Getting started at Childrens for the PH Probe

It took both dad and I to comfort Carson while they put the wires in. It went down his nose and stopped a few inches up from his stomach. After they inserted it, we went down to X-ray to make sure it was in place. Now we are back in our room getting his vitals taken.

Trying to have fun

Child life came down and gave him a tour of the playroom. He took some books, cars, and a race track. As you can see this car was his favorite. We drove around the hospital floor for a couple of hours. He was on a strick every three hour food diet so he was mad when we went back into the room so he could eat and drink.

Taking a little nap

This is Sunday afternoon. We had to keep him sleeping as upright as possible. He had to lay flat from 9PM-9AM and all the other times he is supposed to be up. I couldn't believe we actually laid him down in the crib and he never woke up.

Hangin out with dad

This was Monday morning after laying flat for the last 12 hours. He didn't like the fact that mommy had to hold him down for a while last night. He's just glad he has his getting up freedom back.

Taking the tubes out

This was Nurse Sara taking out the wires. She was our day nurse for Sunday and Monday As you can see, he is not very happy with us.

Finally going home

Yeah....I'm outta here!!!

Carson with Cody at Dr Tarvin's office

Carson went to Dr Tarvin's office so he could get his DTAP vaccination. He couldn't once again because he was running a temp. This is about the 4th attempt since he was 18 months. Seriously, is he doing this on purpose????

Pulmonary Clinic

Here we are at the Pulmonary clinic waiting for the Doc to come in. We were playing the frown/smile game.

Showing off for the nurse

This one is Carson at the Pulmonary Clinic. He's getting ready for the nurse to listen to his heart. He has the routine down!!
